Projects > 32 Avenue NW Transmission Line Alteration

ENMAX Power

This project has been deferred at this time. Our Stakeholder Relations team will notify impacted stakeholders with applicable updates.

OVERVIEW

In 2014, a fault occurred on a 69kV underground transmission cable feeding ENMAX Power Corporation’s (ENMAX Power) No. 34 Substation along 32 Avenue NW. ENMAX undertook an emergency replacement to restore the line to service by installing a portion of double circuit overhead transmission line. At the time of the emergency repair, ENMAX Power advised the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) that it would apply to construct a permanent underground line (the Project) after power had been restored.

ENMAX Power intends to apply for approval to replace the overhead line with an underground solution; however, the AUC may determine that the existing overhead configuration remain permanently.
