Projects > No. 37 Substation

ENMAX Power

BACKGROUND

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) No. 37 Substation, located at 5099 68 Street SE, was built in 1971. ENMAX Power has identified the need for additional capacity at this substation to serve the forecasted customer load growth in the area. ENMAX Power is working with the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to increase the capacity at No. 37 Substation (the Project) and has applied to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for approval of the Project. The Project, if approved, will improve the reliability of the substation and ensure that electricity supply to customers in the area is maintained.

As part of the Project, ENMAX Power is proposing to, among other things, replace an existing transformer located at the substation with a higher capacity transformer, construct a new building and extend the substation fence line. The new fence line would be located approximately 11 metres north of the existing fence line.

For more information regarding the need for the Project, please see the AESO Need Overview document included in this Project package.
