The Board of Directors of ENMAX Corporation (ENMAX) is pleased to announce the appointments of Ms. Barbara Munroe and Dr. Chika Onwuekwe to the ENMAX Board, effective June 29, 2021.
Ms. Munroe and Dr. Onwuekwe bring a depth of legal, governance and industry experience that will serve ENMAX well in its mission to safely and responsibly provide electricity and energy services to people, businesses and communities, and provide value for our Shareholder and the citizens of Calgary.
Ms. Munroe has over 25 years of experience as a lawyer and executive across a range of industries. She currently serves as Board Chair of Crescent Point Corp. and is a director of Willow Biosciences Inc. She also serves as a Trustee of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. She has held various senior executive positions, including Executive Vice President, Corporate Services & General Counsel at WestJet Airlines and Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for SMART Technologies Inc. Prior to her senior executive experience, Ms. Munroe practiced corporate commercial law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP for 10 years. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws degree.
Dr. Onwuekwe has over 20 years of legal and executive experience in the energy sector. He is currently the Vice President, Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Trican Well Services, and serves as Treasurer and Director of the Association of Corporate Counsel. He is actively involved in volunteer and non-profit organizations, including Co-Chair of the BlackNorth Initiative Mentorship and Sponsorship Committee and Chair of the BlackNorth Initiative, Calgary Chapter. Dr. Onwuekwe holds LL.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Law, Biotechnological and Intellectual Property and received a Queen's Counsel appointment from the Province of Alberta.
In addition to welcoming the two new Board members, the ENMAX Board and Executive team would like to thank retiring Board member Richard Shaw for his 10 years of exemplary service and many contributions to our organization.
