Today, the ENMAX Board of Directors announced the mutually agreed upon departure of ENMAX’s President & Chief Executive Officer, Wayne O’Connor, and the appointment of Charles Ruigrok as Interim President & Chief Executive Officer while the Board initiates a search to select a permanent appointment to the role.
“Since joining ENMAX in 2020, Wayne advanced ENMAX’s long term strategy and commitments, oversaw the integration of Versant Power and navigated our organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. On behalf of the Board, I wish to extend our appreciation for his contributions during his time with us,” said Greg Melchin, ENMAX Board Chair.
With over forty years of business and executive experience in the energy industry, Charles Ruigrok brings an extensive understanding of ENMAX and its operations to the role of Interim President & CEO, having served as a member of the ENMAX Board for over a decade and as ENMAX’s Interim President & CEO previously from 2011 to 2012.
“As we move ahead, Charles will capably lead our experienced executive team, and together, they will remain focused on supporting the talented people of ENMAX and Versant Power, providing safe, reliable service to our customers in Alberta and Maine, and generating value for our Shareholder, The City of Calgary,” said Greg Melchin.
