REGULATED RATE OPTION (RRO)

The Regulated Rate Option (RRO) is a regulated electricity rate available to all eligible customers. The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approves the monthly rate calculation. If you have not chosen a contract with an electricity retailer – and are eligible – then you will automatically be supplied electricity by the RRO. The RRO rate changes every month.

ENMAX Power Corporation is responsible for providing the RRO in its Calgary service area.

In other areas of the province, such as Red Deer, Ponoka, Cardston and Fort Macleod, the RRO rates are set by the municipal governments and the RRO service is provided by the ENMAX Group of Companies.

All customers are free to purchase natural gas services from the default supply provider or from a retailer of their choice and to purchase electricity services from the regulated rate provider or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase natural gas services or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area. For a current list of retailers you may choose from, visit www.ucahelps.alberta.ca or call 310-4822 (toll free in Alberta).
