Electrical load limiter guide

When an account has an unpaid balance, electricity will be disconnected. However, in certain situations, a load limiter will be installed instead.

Between October 15 and April 15, a load limiter may be used to provide limited electricity during colder months.
While it reduces the amount of electricity available, it allows enough power to operate some essential appliances (approximately 10 to 15 amps).

How to reset the load limiter

If too much electricity is used at the same time, the load limiter will temporarily shut off power. To restore power and continue using electricity within the available limit, follow the instructions for your type of load limiter.

1

Protect appliances and electronics

To prevent possible damage when power is restored, turn off or unplug all electrical devices and appliances.

2

Locate your electricity meter

Meters are usually located on an exterior wall of your home.

Meters for townhouses or row houses are generally located together on one side of the building block.

Meters in apartment buildings may be in a meter room. Contact your property manager for access. ENMAX cannot give access to these rooms.

Tampering is illegal

Do not tamper with your electric meter.

Not only can it lead to serious injury or damage, but it is also against the law. If tampering has occurred, your service will be fully disconnected, and additional fees may apply before power can be restored.
