Our Responsibilities

As the Wire Services Provider, ENMAX Power is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the distribution system infrastructure and all revenue metering equipment installed for the purposes of electricity service in Calgary.

As a Wire Services Provider, our responsibilities are as follows:

  • Load Settlement
  • Meter Service Provider
  • Meter Data Management
  • Invoicing to Retailers
Oour responsibilities
Load Settlement Agent
  • Allocate energy consumption, losses and unaccounted for energy to all sites in settlement zones for which we have been assigned responsibility in accordance with the Settlement System Code, as amended from time to time.
  • Add and maintain site information for all sites in settlement zones for which we have been assigned responsibility.
  • Provide Retailers with an updated site ID catalog on our web site. ENMAX Power provides updated catalogs in electronic format to listed Retailers via VLTrader, unless otherwise requested by the retailer.
  • Process enrollments in a standard manner. Provide settlement data through the standard transactions described in the Settlement System Code.

Meter Service Provider

ENMAX Power provides and maintains all revenue meter services within its service area. ENMAX Power is accredited by Measurement Canada to provide these services.

ENMAX Power's meter shop is responsible for all aspects of meter management, including, but not limited to:

  • Procure and manage meter inventory
  • Test meters
  • Certify meters
  • Install and remove revenue meters and other associated equipment
Meter Data Management Agent

Meter Data Management includes the collection, validation and management of all consumption data, including information from non-interval and interval meters. All non-interval meters in the Calgary settlement zone, are scheduled to be read on a monthly basis. All interval meters in the Calgary settlement zone are read daily.

Delivery of Meter Reading Information
ENMAX Power is the sole source of revenue metering information for all market participants in its service area. Every business day, ENMAX Power sends revenue meter reading information for enrolled sites to market participants, as described in the Settlement System Code.

Publication of Meter Reading Cycles
ENMAX Power publishes the meter reading cycle schedule for Calgary customers only. To view the schedule for a specific Calgary site id, browse our Meter Schedule. View the most current Calgary electric me​ter ​re​​​ading statistics.

Off-Cycle Reads
ENMAX Power will read any of its revenue meters at the request of the Retailer, subject to the charges set out in the Distribution Tariff Fee Schedule.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

ENMAX Power assesses charges to retailer for distribution, transmission, one-time service charges, and usage information relevant to calculating energy charges in accordance to the Alberta Tariff Billing Code, as amended from time to time.

The Distribution Tariff includes details about payment terms, error handling practices, collection matters, and other billing-related issues. We recommend that Retailers become informed about these processes.

Payment by electronic banking or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) is mandatory. Our bank details are as follows:
