3.84L Tuxedo Park NW Transmission Line Alteration Project

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) owns and operates transmission line 3.84L (3.84L), which provides electrical services to residential and commercial properties in Calgary’s Tuxedo Park and Balmoral communities and surrounding areas. 3.84L is a 138-kilovolt transmission line that runs north from ENMAX No. 3 Substation (139 17 Avenue NW) to 32 Avenue NE where it runs east and connects into ENMAX No. 13 Substation (867 32 Avenue NE).

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) has approved ENMAX Power to start construction to alter 3.84L by modifying the existing components (post insulators) located on four transmission structures and installing a new wood pole within the current alignment west of Centre Street N and north of 31 Avenue NW (the Project). The proposed alteration will increase the height of 3.84L, allowing ENMAX Power to comply with clearance requirements between the line and existing facilities in the area. Resolving these clearance violations will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of ENMAX Power’s electrical system.
