ENMAX Power is committed to ensuring the communities we serve are engaged and updated about projects in their neighbourhoods.
ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) owns and operates transmission line 26.81L (26.81L), which is a 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line located south of Stoney Trail (Highway 201) in southeast Calgary.
ENMAX Power has determined that wood pole structure 138-26.81-11 (Structure 11), located in a naturally occurring wetland, is deteriorated and is nearing its anticipated end of life. ENMAX Power has applied to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for approval to alter 26.81L by replacing the two wood poles (26.81-10 and 26.81-12) located on either side of the wetland with two 3-pole deadend structures, to allow for the removal of Structure 11 (the Project). The Project is located south of Stoney Trail (Highway 201) in the Transportation Utility Corridor near the community of Auburn Bay and spans approximately 252 meters. Completion of the Project will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of ENMAX Power’s electrical system.
ENMAX Power has filed a Checklist Application with the AUC in January 2023. Subject to receiving approvals and weather conditions permitting, Project construction is anticipated to begin in January 2023 with an expected in-service date in Q1 2023.
