Why doesn't the energy rate on my bill match the floating rate posted on www.enmax.com?

ENMAX Energy has several different billing cycles that you could fall into depending on when you sign-up. Since the floating rate is a daily average, customers who are in different billing cycles may be charged a different floating rate. ENMAX Energy posts floating rates based off of the average for the previous calendar month not your billing cycle, so they will never match perfectly.

For Example:

  • The Variable Gas rate on www.enmax.com is the average from the 1st to the 30th of the previous Calendar month.
  • Customer 1's billing cycle runs from the 6th to the 5th – which means their average would likely be different than what is displayed on www.enmax.com
  • Customers 2's billing cycle runs from the 10th – 9th – which means this average would also likely be different from what is displayed on the website and different from Customer 1.

Customers are free to purchase natural gas services or electricity services from a retailer of their choice. For a list of retailers, visit ucahelps.alberta.ca or call 310-4822 (toll free in Alberta).
