Substation 47 Capacity Addition

East of Evansford Road NW

Purpose

The Alberta Electric System Operator has identified the need to strengthen the transmission system in north Calgary. Transmission development in this area is required to meet a growing demand for power in both the residential and commercial sectors, and to improve system reliability.

To meet these needs, ENMAX Power Corporation is proposing to increase the capacity at the ENMAX No. 47 Substation, which is located just east of Evansford Road NW, adjacent to Stoney Trail.

All work would be done within the existing substation yard.

Regulatory update:

In July 2012, the AUC issued a Notice of Application for Substation Upgrade In Calgary regarding the proposed No. 47 Substation Expansion project. On March 5, 2013 the AUC approved facility upgrades to ENMAX No.47 substation and issued Permit & Licence.

ENMAX Power Corporation and the Alberta Electric System Operator filed their applications with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) in June 2012 and was approved on March 5, 2013. To view the applications, please visit www.auc.ab.ca.
