Project Overview

ENMAX Power Corporation (EPC) has been approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to replace a one kilometre section of a double circuit transmission line located on Home Road and 32 Ave NW. The line runs south along Home Road NW to 13 Ave NW. This work is required to ensure the continued reliability of the electrical system.


Project Description

The approved project consists of the following:
  • Remove and replace seven (7) existing steel lattice structures and their components. The structures will be replaced with steel monopole structures set in concrete.
  • Four (4) of the new structures will have a distribution underbuild, with the remainder of the existing distribution line relocated to underground facilities.
  • All replacement poles will be located within approximately five (5) metres of the existing structures with the exception of pole 69-15.62-19 which will be 45 metres north of its existing location.

Project Status

ENMAX filed an application with the AUC for the proposed work on December 11, 2018. The AUC issued a decision for the project approval on October 16, 2019. Construction commenced November 4, 2019 with an anticipated in-service date of December 20, 2019.
