Downtown West Transmission Replacement

Project Overview

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) is replacing two underground 138 kV transmission lines and associated components between ENMAX No. 1 Substation located at 738 – 9 Avenue SW, and the overhead structure west of 14 Street SW on 9 Avenue SW south of the Greyhound Terminal. These transmission lines need to be replaced as they have reached the end of their expected service life.

Project Status

ENMAX filed an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for the proposed work on June 28, 2017. The AUC issued a decision approving the project and new permits and licenses on September 15, 2017. Construction is scheduled to start in June 2018 with completion by December2018.

Crews will be accessing both the substation and the overhead structure as required throughout the project

The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase natural gas services or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area.
