Supporting Calgary innovation that makes homes more affordable and efficient
Calgary-based Gradient Thermal Inc. receives $25,000 ENMAX Amplifier Fund grant
Finding ways to make homes more affordable, comfortable, and energy efficient is an issue many Calgarians are thinking about. That’s why ENMAX is proud to support local innovators who are tackling these challenges head-on.
Calgary-based Gradient Thermal Inc. has been awarded the 2026 ENMAX Amplifier Fund, in partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. The $25,000 grant will help the company continue developing and manufacturing residential heating systems designed to work better for modern homes, and for the people who live in them.
A smarter approach to home heating
Founded and operated in Calgary, Gradient Thermal designs and builds clean technology heating systems that combine a furnace and a water heater into a single appliance. By doing this, the system uses more than 50 per cent less mechanical space than traditional setups.
For homeowners and builders, that can mean more usable living space and lower construction costs. Just as important, Gradient’s systems are designed and manufactured locally, with Canadian climates and building standards in mind. In an industry dominated by U.S. and international manufacturers, Gradient is helping keep innovation, manufacturing, and skilled jobs right here in Calgary.
The ENMAX Amplifier Fund grant will support Gradient Thermal’s manufacturing expansion and help the company compete both locally and globally.
Backing local ideas that strengthen our city
“We’re excited to support innovative Calgary-based companies like Gradient Thermal that are tackling some of today’s most pressing challenges, from housing affordability to energy efficiency,” says Alexandra Frison, Director, Community and Community Impact at ENMAX. “Through the ENMAX Amplifier Fund, and in partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, we’re happy to help accelerate ideas that strengthen our economy and build a more sustainable energy future.”
The Amplifier Fund is focused on supporting small and medium-sized businesses that are creating practical solutions to real-world challenges, while helping diversify Calgary’s economy.
Gradient Thermal CEO Cameron Doepker says the recognition reflects the strength of Calgary’s business community.
“We’re very proud to be building Gradient Thermal in Calgary, reimagining home heating to make living more efficient and affordable,” says Doepker. “This award reflects a community that values and supports innovation and backs local businesses and talent.”
Partnering for Calgary’s future
The Calgary Chamber of Commerce, ENMAX’s partner on the Amplifier Fund, sees Gradient Thermal as an example of how local innovation can have a broader impact.
“At a time when housing affordability and supply are major concerns across Canada, Gradient Thermal is developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges right here in Calgary,” says Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. “We’re proud to partner with ENMAX to support businesses like Gradient Thermal, which are helping position Calgary as a global leader in talent and manufacturing.”
By supporting local companies with big ideas, ENMAX aims to help build a city where people can count on reliable energy today, while moving forward together toward a more efficient and sustainable future.
About the ENMAX Amplifier Fund
To support Calgary’s dynamic and diverse business community, the ENMAX Amplifier Fund was established to award an existing small business with $25,000 to support next-level transformation by investing in innovation, technology and leadership. Recognizing and supporting these attributes through the ENMAX Amplifier Fund is one important way ENMAX and the Calgary Chamber propel positive growth and build a brighter future for Calgary.
