ENMAX releases 2024 ESG Report


Calgary, Alta.
- ENMAX Corporation’s 2024 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, released today, highlights its continued focus in five key areas:

  • Responsible growth – advancing energy solutions for the benefit of customers, communities ENMAX operates in and its Shareholder, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing grid reliability and resilience.
  • Positive social connections – maintaining good safety performance, fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, helping eliminate barriers for customers, building stronger and more resilient communities, and taking action toward reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
  • A reliable and agile business – committing to the highest standards of ethical conduct and corporate governance and approaching customer satisfaction with the philosophy that ‘every moment matters.
  • Climate resiliency – withstanding increasingly severe weather events and adapting to changing customer expectations, while progressing risk management strategies to ensure they address changing environmental and social matters.
  • Trust and transparency – demonstrating progress and commitment to continual advancement.

“ENMAX approaches ESG pragmatically through the lens of business resilience. We are looking to the future, at our long-term risks, and the steps we need to take to mitigate those risks and handle the challenges,” said Jennifer Saldana, Director, Indigenous Relations and Sustainability. “Our ESG report tells the story of the actions we are taking today to maintain our strength tomorrow and be there for our customers.”


2024 highlights:

  • Reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 65 per cent from its 2015 baseline.
  • Invested $415 million in Calgary’s transmission and distribution system and other assets to increase grid reliability and resilience.
  • Adopted Proactive Incident Rate (PAIR) as its incentivized safety metric, introducing two new apps to encourage employee participation in proactive safety actions.
  • Introduced Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including a new Indigenous ERG and several new Indigenous awareness and educational opportunities for employees.
  • Supported Alberta Ecotrust’s Home Upgrades Program to help lower-income Albertans access efficiency upgrades.
  • Contributed $4.2 million in cash, in-kind and through matching of employee donations to Alberta and Maine community organizations.
  • Supported community organizations with 5,395 volunteer hours from employees in Alberta and more than 900 in Maine.
  • Conducted three physical risk workshops in 2024 with more than 20 subject matter experts across its operating areas in Alberta to discuss the potential impacts of climate change on ENMAX’s assets.
