ENMAX increases funding to three community partners to support basic needs
ENMAX is strengthening partnerships through enhanced donations to three of our key community partners – Trellis Society, Distress Centre Calgary and United Way Calgary & Area – who are making a difference for vulnerable Calgarians.
Totaling $400,000 a year, ENMAX's investment is part of our commitment outlined in our recent Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report to support customers and communities at each stage of the energy affordability lifecycle.
ENMAX is doubling our annual donation to Trellis Society to $150,000 to enhance our support of the Winter Breather program and help fund Trellis's other year-round programs supporting those experiencing poverty. This includes supporting families with grocery costs, utility bill management and financial coaching. Trellis works with children, youth and families, offering programs to improve access to resources, developing family and community supports.
In addition, ENMAX has tripled our annual contribution to United Way of Calgary & Area, with an increased focus on supporting their Basic Needs Fund which ensures individuals and families have access to basic necessities, allowing them to focus on building their strengths and move towards greater self-sufficiency.
We're proud to support these important community partners today and throughout the year as they continue to provide essential services to our community.
"At ENMAX, we know access to electricity is essential to our lives. We also know some Albertans are experiencing a prolonged period of hardship and we're committed to enhancing our support of those in need through our long-standing partnerships with these critical community agencies. That's why we're providing additional funding to increase the capacity of our key essential-needs partners to support vulnerable Albertans and continue this important work."
