Electric vehicle owners in Calgary fill ENMAX Power smart charging pilot
Calgary, Alta. – Electric vehicle owners in Calgary are revved up, filling 250 spots in ENMAX Power’s smart charging pilot which will help prepare for growth in electric vehicle adoption.
In two weeks, the Charge Up pilot project has been fully subscribed by EV owners who will help inform ENMAX Power’s research on EV adoption, charging behaviour and the overall effect EVs have on Calgary’s power grid.
"We are grateful for the overwhelming response from Calgary’s electric vehicle owners and want to thank all those who volunteered to be part of this project," said Jana Mosley, President, ENMAX Power. "Their participation in this research will help ENMAX prepare for the expected growth in electric vehicle adoption while optimizing our electricity system to meet customer demand."
There are around 3,000 EVs on the road in Calgary today. ENMAX Power expects that number to jump to 200,000 by 2035.
The pilot’s 250 participants will share charging activity data – including how, when and where EVs are charged – and earn rewards for their participation. The pilot wraps up in December 2022.
