The service provider is required to design and build as per ENMAX Power Corporation's standards, specifications, and guidelines. ENMAX Power has inspection and quality control processes in place to ensure the installation of a safe and reliable electrical system.
What happens if there is a cable or equipment failure in the future?
ENMAX Power Corporation will continue to respond to equipment failures and outages to restore service in a timely manner.
Why is ENMAX Power providing developers with a choice of design and build companies?
ENMAX Power has been transitioning towards an “Asset Management Operating Model” for distribution projects. Our role as asset owner will focus on owning, operating and managing the growth of our infrastructure, with design and construction activities assigned to external service providers.
What types of projects are in the “Developer Choice” Model?
All Developer driven non-residential distribution projects excluding projects initiated by The City of Calgary Transportation Infrastructure and Roads.
How is ENMAX Power involved in Developer Choice projects?

Some aspects of construction such as energization of the system and performing “live line” work (i.e. working on energized equipment) will be done by ENMAX Power.
Are project costs going to increase?
Project costs will be market based and dependent on the agreement between the developer and the service provider. EPC will continue to invest as per the Investment Policy approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).
How will I know how long my project will take to complete?
The Developer Choice Model will provide developers increased flexibility to meet their business needs. Project timelines (design, material procurement and construction) will be arranged between the developer and the service provider.

All customers are free to purchase natural gas services from the default supply provider or from a retailer of their choice and to purchase electricity services from the regulated rate provider or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase natural gas services or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area. For a current list of retailers you may choose from, visit www.ucahelps.gov.ab.ca or call 310-4822 (toll free in Alberta).
