ENMAX Energy and its subsidiaries owns and operates two wind farms, Taber Wind Farm and ENMAX Kettles Hill Inc., and have an interest in the McBride Lake Wind farm, delivering power to the grid from a great source of renewable energy, the wind!
ENMAX Kettles Hill Inc.
Nestled along the Foothills near Pincher Creek, Alberta, the ENMAX Kettles Hill Inc. is comprised of 35 turbines with a current capacity of 63 MW. ENMAX Energy, through a wholly-owned subsidiary, acquired the facility in June 2008. Kettles Hill is poised for growth, and has potential for a further 77 MW.
Mcbride Lake Wind Farm
A joint venture between a subsidiary of ENMAX Energy Corporation and TransAlta Renewables Inc., McBride Lake Wind Farm is located just south of Fort MacLeod at McBride Lake and is comprised of 114 turbines. The 73 MW facility produces enough electricity for about 32,500 homes.
Taber Wind Farm
In operation since 2007, the Taber Wind Farm is southeast of the Town of Taber, Alberta. The wind farm’s 37 turbines are among the most sophisticated in the world and produce 81 MW of power. Each tower soars 85 metres above the ground, and the tallest point of the turbine (including the rotor blade) is equivalent to a 40-story building! The Taber Wind Farm is 100 per cent owned and operated by ENMAX Energy Corporation, with all power generated purchased by the City of Calgary for a 20-year period.
