Overview
ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) owns and operates transmission line 23.80L (23.80L), which provides electrical services to residential and commercial properties in Calgary’s Eastfield and Foothills communities and surrounding areas. 23.80L is a 138-kilovolt transmission line that runs east from ENMAX No. 23 Substation (2412 50 Avenue SE) to the AltaLink Janet Substation (at the corner of 50 Avenue and Garden Road SE).
The City of Calgary (the City) has requested that ENMAX Power alter the existing 23.80L to accommodate the road widening of 50 Avenue SE (east of 52 Street SE) in preparation for the planned construction of the Great Plains / Starfield subdivision.
ENMAX Power has applied to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for approval to alter a 600-meter section of 23.80L by relocating four existing laminated wood poles approximately 8 meters north of their current alignment and replacing one existing laminated wood pole in its existing location (the Project). This Project will allow the City to complete the planned widening of this section of 50 Avenue SE while ensuring the continued safe, reliable and efficient operation of ENMAX Power’s electrical system.
PROPOSED SCHEDULE
ENMAX Power filed a Checklist Application with the AUC March 17, 2023 and the Application has been assigned proceeding number 28111. Construction is anticipated to take approximately three weeks with a proposed in-service date in Q2 2023. CONSTRUCTION METHODS
Temporary access accommodations and road closures may be periodically required during construction. The proposed construction activities will take place along a 600-meter section of 50 Avenue SE, east of 52 Street SE. ENMAX Power will work with stakeholders and the City to minimize impacts to residences, businesses, and commuters in the area.

There are no planned power outages impacting customers as part of the proposed work.
