Allow your homes’ electrical system to adjust

Allow your homes’ electrical system to adjust. Only switch on the most important electronics and appliances first (such as medical equipment, fridge, freezer, etc.) and then wait 10 to 15 minutes before plugging in the others.

Check your furnace

The fan should start automatically. Depending on your furnace model, you may have a standing pilot light (small flame) that stays on all the time, or an electronic ignition that sparks the pilot light when the thermostat calls for heat. If the pilot light is out, you may need to relight it manually or reset the electronic ignition. Refer to your furnace manual for the specific instructions on how to do this. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, please contact a certified HVAC company.
