A series of social media ads are offering free smart thermostats, along with energy rebates following a home assessment for ENMAX Energy customers. These ads are posted by SMARTREBATES.CA, who claims to be associated with ENMAX Energy.
NOT affiliated nor does it have any relationship with SMARTREBATES.CA. We are advising customers not to click on the ad or communicate with this company. .

ENMAX customers have reported a scam where they receive an email that appears to be from ENMAX and states that the customer has a pending refund. The customer is directed to a “Deposit Now” button. The email has been known to include the fake URL enmaxalberta.com. ENMAX does not provide refunds in this manner. If you receive this email, do not enter any account or credit card information.

ENMAX is warning of a phone and text scam where a fraudster claims to be from ENMAX and threatens power disconnection if payment is not received. This is not from ENMAX.
ENMAX does not request credit card details over the phone or accept payment by bitcoin. Additionally, we do not disconnect power without fair warning and process.

Thanks to alert customers, there has been a report of a man appearing at a customer’s door in Calgary wearing an ENMAX T-shirt while acting suspiciously and asking vague questions about energy use. ENMAX does not go door-to-door, but we do have meter readers out there who carry ENMAX ID.
Should you experience this please call police at 403-266-1234 (non-emergency) if the person is gone or 9-1-1 if person is still present.
