Projects > Drone-Inspection-Pilot-Program-2022
ENMAX Power is launching an innovative pilot program using drone technology to perform visual and infrared inspections of our electrical infrastructure. Our contractor, Volatus Aerospace Inc., will be using licensed drone pilots to complete this work on behalf of ENMAX.
Drones improve safety and save time by flying from pole to pole quickly, replacing the need for a crew member to climb a pole or use a bucket truck. This is particularly helpful in confined spaces or locations with difficult terrain. Using drones is also a greener and more cost-effective way to inspect our infrastructure.
Drone footage and infrared scanning will help us more accurately identify problems, including equipment damage and potential hazards. This proactive approach will help to reduce both power outages and repair costs.
To safeguard the privacy of any person in close proximity to where the drones will be working, our service provider uses technology that automatically blurs faces and vehicle license plates. If you have any additional questions about our privacy policies, please contact us at email@example.com.
Inspections will occur between July 18 and 22, 2022, at select locations across the city:
