OVERVIEW

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) owns and operates transmission line 9.83 (9.83L), which provides electrical services to residential and commercial properties in Calgary’s Fairview and Acadia communities and surrounding areas. 9.83L is a 138-kilovolt transmission line that runs west from ENMAX No. 9 Substation (1010 Glenmore Trail SE), continues south to Blackfoot Trail, and west onto Heritage Drive, where it connects to ENMAX No. 43 Substation (498 Heritage Dr. SE).​

 

​ENMAX Power intends to apply to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for approval to alter 9.83L by removing two existing wood poles and replacing them with two wood poles of a greater height, within the existing alignment, near the intersection of Heritage Drive SE and Fairmount Drive SE (the Project).

The proposed pole replacements will increase the height of the 9.83L conductors, which will allow ENMAX Power to comply with clearance requirements between 9.83L and a traffic light in the area. The Project will ensure the continued safe, reliable and efficient operation of ENMAX Power’s electrical system.
