Edmonton's Kushneryk family today helped ENMAX Energy Corporation launch an ambitious new program that will put home-based electricity generation in the hands of thousands of Alberta families.
Generate ChoiceTM program was launched at a media event where two solar photovoltaic systems were installed on the home of Darryl and Tanya Kushneryk. The Kushneryks are among the first to join Generate Choice in Edmonton. The program makes generating a homeowner's electricity from the sun or wind an easy and affordable option through an innovative
leasing arrangement that allows for no down payment or low down payment or low monthly payments, thanks in part to funding from Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) Corporation. For more details on the pricing, go to
www.generatechoice.ca/solar/price-options. Plus, ENMAX Energy will complete a no-cost site evaluation to assess a home's suitability. Homeowners even have the option to buy the equipment at the end of the lease. For more details on the benefits of the program, go to
ENMAX Energy has already installed 180 of these solar photovoltaic systems on homes throughout the province, and worked with a number of municipalities to confirm permitting requirements. ENMAX Energy has also developed training programs with technical institutions like SAIT in Calgary, establishing a contractor network in most areas of the province, and working with equipment suppliers to help ensure availability.
"Albertans now have an easy and affordable way to generate some of their own electricity thanks to the sun and wind," said Charles Ruigrok, interim President and CEO, ENMAX Corporation. "This is not just the beginning of a movement in Alberta; the Generate Choice program also greatly accelerates the entire solar energy industry in this province."
"We had considered installing solar panels for some time, but the process seemed daunting until we found out about the Generate Choice program. It was one-stop shopping at a price we found to be reasonable. ENMAX took care of the permitting and installation, and will also be responsible for almost all of the maintenance. It's a perfect fit for us." said Darryl Kushneryk.
GST is additional. Other charges may apply depending on the solar system installation.*
ENMAX Energy retains the rights to any renewable energy credits generated by all solar photovoltaic systems in the Generate Choice™ program.
