Effective September 15, 2011, for personal and business reasons, and to pursue other interests, Mr. Cliff Fryers will be resigning as Chairman of the Board of Directors, ENMAX Corporation.
Following the Annual General Meeting in May, Mr. Fryers advised the Board of Directors he was interested in retiring in the fall and requested that the Board of Directors prepare for this transition. The Board asked Mr. Fryers to remain as Chair until major matters were well underway to completion.
“Several months ago I advised the Board I would remain as Chair through any transition period but I would resign in the fall,” said Cliff Fryers. “I am incredibly proud of our achievements during the past eight years, building ENMAX into one of the largest vertically integrated utility companies in the province of Alberta and creating a vision for a cleaner, more sustainable future for electricity.”
The ENMAX Board of Directors has appointed Gregory Melchin, a former Alberta Minister of Energy, as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Melchin joined the ENMAX Board of Directors in 2008 and currently chairs the Audit and Finance committee.
“I would like to thank Cliff for his outstanding leadership and service to ENMAX and the City of Calgary,” said Greg Melchin. “Cliff was instrumental in building this company into one of the most successful utility companies in Canada. On behalf of the Board and all ENMAX employees we offer our best wishes to Cliff and his family.”
“On behalf of the citizens of Calgary, I would also like to thank Cliff for his service and dedication to ENMAX and the City of Calgary, and I wish him the very best,” said Mayor Nenshi.
