There are many ways you can reduce your water consumption in your home. Stop throwing money down the drain and try some of these water savings tips in your home.

  • Install low-flow showerheads.
  • Try to limit showers to five minutes.
  • Set your irrigation system to water between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., avoiding the heat of the day, which makes the water evaporate faster.
  • Don't water your lawn if there is rain in the forecast.
  • Keep your grass 3" long - it will retain moisture better and helps keep out pesky weeds.
  • Use the mulcher on your mower to reuse your grass clippings to help keep moisture from evaporating.
  • Use mulch around bedding plants to retain moisture and help keep out weeds.
  • Do full loads of laundry rather than half loads.
  • Turn off the tap when you aren't actually using the water coming out of it.
  • Install low-flow toilets.
  • Repair any leaking taps.
  • Check your hot water tank for leaks.
