Transmission Line Relocation – 212 Avenue and Deerfoot Trail SE

Project Overview

Alberta Transportation has requested ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) relocate three existing transmission structures to accommodate construction of the new intersection at 212 Ave and Deerfoot Trail SE.

ENMAX has been approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to remove and salvage the existing steel monopoles and associated components and replace them with new structures. 

Project Details

The approved project consists of the following:

  • Replace a total of 3 steel 138 kV double circuit monopoles on the west side of Deerfoot Trail SE
  • Each monopole will be replaced in the existing alignment located within the utility right-of-way

Project Status

ENMAX filed an application with the AUC and was issued a decision for project approval on September 27, 2018. Civil construction has been delayed until early 2019. This project will take two weeks to complete. This project has an anticipated proposed in-service date of February 28, 2019.
