Transmission Structure Relocation – Highfield Crescent and Deerfoot Trail SE

Project Overview

The City of Calgary has requested ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) relocate three existing transmission structures to accommodate the new Green Line LRT in the area of Highfield Crescent and Deerfoot Trail SE.

Relocation of the structures is required to maintain safe and reliable operation of ENMAX infrastructure and ensure adequate clearance for the new LRT system. ENMAX has been approved to remove the existing structures and their components and replace them with new steel monopoles and components.

Project status

ENMAX filed an Application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) in February 2018 and received approval to complete the work by June 2018. Due to outage conflicts with the transmission system ENMAX was not able to proceed with construction as anticipated in June 2018. ENMAX has rescheduled this work to be completed by March 31, 2019.
