The City of Calgary has requested ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) to relocate five existing transmission structures to accommodate the new Green Line LRT in the area of Barlow Trail SE and Deerfoot Trail.
Relocation of the structures is required to maintain safe and reliable operation of ENMAX infrastructure, and ensure adequate clearance for the new LRT. ENMAX proposes to remove the existing structures and their components, and replace them with four new steel monopoles and components.
ENMAX filed an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for the proposed work on February 20, 2018. The AUC issued a decision approving the project and new permits and licenses on March 6, 2018. Construction is scheduled to begin June 6, 2018 and will take approximately three weeks to complete.
