ENMAX No. 13 Substation Upgrades


Project overview

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) has been approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to upgrade ENMAX No. 13 Substation located at 867 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta. The project will mitigate safety concerns and improve reliability and integrity of the substation and electricity supply.

Project Description

ENMAX has identified additional infrastructure upgrades are required for the approved project, located at 867 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta.

The project consists of the following:

  • Installation of new switchgear lineup with all necessary connections
  • Associated protection and controls
  • Construction of a new substation control building approximately 21m x 27m positioned on the southeast side of the substation
  • Alterations to the substation fence line, approximately 5m expansion south of the current location for the new control building

All changes will occur within existing ENMAX property.

Project Status

ENMAX filed an application with the AUC for the proposed work on June 18, 2018. The AUC issued a decision for project approval on August 2, 2018.

Construction began early December 2018 with an anticipated in-service date of November 30, 2020.
