Distribution Feeder to Service the New Calgary Cancer Centre

Project Overview

In order to meet Alberta Health Services’ request to service the new Calgary Cancer Centre, ENMAX Power Corporation is installing 5 kilometres of new underground distribution feeder between No. 15 Substation and Foothills Medical Centre. This cable will be 13.2kV (phase to phase), 8kV (phase to neutral), with an anticipated load of 7MVA. The new distribution cable being installed is the same voltage class as the overhead lines in your community.

A combination of existing duct bank and new duct bank will be utilized to house the new underground feeder cables. The installation of new duct bank and manholes will involve excavation in City-owned roadways and will take place within the City’s approved Utility Alignment Permit (UAP). As the City of Calgary grows, new infrastructure is required to meet the increasing demand for safe and reliable power. Please see attached map for the project route.
