On June 30, 2016, ENMAX Energy Corporation received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to expand their Calgary Energy Centre to include a 197 megawatt peaking plant, Calgary Energy Centre Peaking Plant (CEC 2). Connection of the CEC 2 plant to the transmission grid will require ENMAX Power Corporation (EPC) to construct a new substation and 138 kV transmission line, to EPC's existing No.162 substation.
