The Green Line LRT Project is Calgary's next light rail transit (LRT) line. The first stage of construction for the Green Line LRT is recommended to extend from 16 Avenue N to 126 Avenue SE. This will add 20 kilometres of track and 14 stations to the existing LRT system.
The City of Calgary has requested ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) to modify an existing transmission line to accommodate the widening of 24 Street SE as part of a new double turning lane onto 90 Avenue SE. This City-driven project is part of the Green Line LRT Enabling Works program.
ENMAX has been approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to relocate two existing structures. The work will include replacing the existing structures with both a wooden monopole and a self-supporting laminate pole.
ENMAX filed an application with the AUC and has been issued a decision for project approval on October 12, 2018. Civil construction is scheduled to begin mid-November 2018 for the duration of two weeks. This project has an anticipated proposed in-service date of November 27, 2018.
