We believe that being an excellent corporate neighbour with Indigenous communities starts by building lasting relationships and evolves as we engage those communities in the decision-making process for our proposed and existing facilities.
With one of the largest, youngest and fastest-growing Indigenous populations in Canada, there are nearly a quarter million First Nation, Métis and Inuit people that play an important role in our social, cultural and economic fabric.
Our fundamental guiding principles – communication and trust – are instrumental in developing open, honest relationships with Indigenous communities.
We look to involve Indigenous communities in economic, social and other opportunities new projects may offer through contracting and local procurement. We also work to find education-focused community investment opportunities that support Indigenous Peoples in acquiring knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the workforce.
Our approach is to focus support in three key areas:
We also sponsor award ceremonies throughout the year so that we have the opportunity to honour leaders, women and youth who make a difference in the Indigenous community.
All customers are free to purchase natural gas services from the default supply provider or from a retailer of their choice and to purchase electricity services from the regulated rate provider or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase natural gas services or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area. For a current list of retailers you may choose from, visit www.ucahelps.alberta.ca or call 310-4822 (toll free in Alberta).
