Distributed Generation includes four types of generators

Renewable Generation (defined as Micro Generation by AUC)

Generating unit with a total capacity of one megawatt (MW) or less interconnected and capable of exporting to the electric distribution system which exclusively uses sources of renewable energy (e.g. solar photovoltaic) and the electrical energy output is intended to meet all or a portion of the customer's electricity needs. Renewable Generation is defined as Micro Generation by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).

*Note: Generation Export is not permitted within any of the Secondary Network Systems within The City of Calgary due to safety and technical reasons. Generation Export can only operate as Non-Export Non-Parallel or Non-Export Parallel.

For generators that do not meet the Micro Generation criteria as per the Government of Alberta Micro Generation Regulation or are connected to a Secondary Network System please review the other generator types and apply accordingly.
