Solutions for evolving
energy needs.

While our job is ensuring you have a safe and reliable source of energy today, our teams are actively pursuing ideas that will prepare our networks and facilities for the ways electricity will power our lives in the near future.

Prepping for Electric Vehicles(EVs).

Charge Up has been helping ENMAX Power learn more about EV charging trends. By understanding this changing demand, ENMAX Power can prepare the electric grid to meet the needs of the expected 200,000 EVs on Calgary streets by 2035.

Canada’s first hybrid generation.

ENMAX Energy led the country by installing a battery storage system on an existing natural gas turbine at the Crossfield Energy Centre. This hybrid solution reduces the run time of the turbine by 80 per cent and eliminates an estimated 45,000 tonnes of GHG emissions annually.

Electrifying our fleet.

To help advance vehicle electrification, ENMAX Fleet Services is the proud owner of two medium-duty fully electric trucks. This first-in-Canada project will test the trucks’ performance in all weather conditions.

Letting the power flow both ways.

To support the growing interest in renewable electricity generation and storage at homes and businesses, ENMAX Power is exploring a solution to enable more customers to supply excess energy they generate to the grid.

EV charging

ENMAX Power’s Charge Up pilot found that eighty per cent of EV charging occurs at 5 p.m., when electricity demand is highest.
