ENMAX employees show their community spirit

​The ENMAX team came out in full force to help our communities in 2013.   In the aftermath of what was the worst natural disaster in Alberta's history, employee volunteers traded their office attire for ENMAX volunteer shirts and heeded the call to help flood-impacted Albertans in Calgary, High River and Siksika Nation.

For three weeks, both at work and on personal time, they shoveled out basements and cleaned up debris in flood-affected areas and helped sort out mountains of clothes at Neighbourlink Calgary.


In all, 237 employees put on their gloves and held out their hands, donating more than 2,800 hours to clean up flood-affected communities and help flood victims get back into their homes.  But the generosity of employees didn't end there.  We raised more than $123,000 in Red Cross donations to aid flood victims – a combination of employee and ENMAX support.  

As the holidays drew near, ENMAX employees were reminded of the many residents they met during the flood cleanup who lost possessions in their basements, including Christmas decorations. They went back to the flood impacted areas and brightened the spirits of those still recovering by stringing Christmas lights on the homes of several High River and Bowness residents. Volunteers also lent a hand to light up the Alberta Children's hospital, Lions Festival of Lights and the homes of Aspen Family and Community Network Society and Dream Centre clients. In all, the ENMAX team provided approximately 75,000 LED lights to brighten the lives of Calgary and High River residents during the holiday season.
