ENMAX Power Corporation

42 AVENUE SOUTHEAST Transmission Line Clearance Mitigation Project

BACKGROUND

ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX Power) owns a portion of the double circuit transmission lines 936L and 937L (936L and 937L), which are 240-kilovolt transmission lines located in the vicinity of 13A Street SE and 42 Avenue SE.

ENMAX Power intends to apply to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for approval to alter 936L and 937L by installing a new steel monopole (monopole) near the south end of 13A Street SE and 42 Avenue SE (the Application). This proposed alteration will increase the height of 936L and 937L, allowing ENMAX Power to comply with clearance distance requirements between the transmission lines and existing facilities in the area. Resolving these clearance violations will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of ENMAX Power’s electrical system.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE

ENMAX Power plans to file a Checklist Application with the AUC in early November 2022. Subject to receiving approvals, construction is anticipated to begin in December 2022. Construction is anticipated to take approximately one week with a proposed in-service date in late December 2022.
