On November 5, 2013, the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) recognized ENMAX group of companies for our 2012 safety performance with a CEA President's Award of Excellence for Employee Safety, Bronze level. Out of the 31 CEA members, ENMAX was one of only three utilities in Canada that were recognized for employee safety performance in 2012.
"This award is a reflection of our employees' consistent commitment to safety. The goal of 'Mission Zero' is an injury-free ENMAX and each of us has a role in protecting ourselves, our co-workers and the public, from injury," said Gianna Manes, ENMAX President and CEO, who attended the ceremony and accepted the award.
As of October 2013, ENMAX's Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) was 0.86. "I am proud of the improvement in safety that we achieved in 2012. Our safety record, so far, in 2013 shows that we are continuing to keep it top-of-mind in all that we do," concluded Ms. Manes.
Award criteria Each year, the CEA ranks corporate utility members within the top quartile for safety performance based on 'All Injury/Illness Frequency' and 'Lost Time Severity Rates'. The Bronze level recognizes that, in 2012, ENMAX met the CEA criteria for excellence, as a result of our 2012 TRIF of 0.43. Silver and Gold levels are met for consecutive years of safety excellence.
