ENMAX Power owns, operates and maintains the distribution and transmission lines – the wires – that deliver electricity to homes and businesses in Calgary. ENMAX Power charges electricity retailers for the delivery of power. Retailers pass these charges on to their customers.

These charges are outlined in our Distribution Tariff. Our regulator, Alberta Utilities Commission (formerly Alberta Energy and Utilities Board), has approved an interim tariff. It includes rate schedules and terms and conditions of service and fees. There has been an upgrade to the Interval Meter Threshold in Calgary.

The Regulated Rate Option (RRO) is offered to residential customers and small business consumers that consume less than 250,000 kWh/year. ENMAX Energy administers this service on behalf of ENMAX Power.

ENMAX Power also collects a fee set by Calgary City Council called the Local Access Fee. It applies to all sites in Calgary.

On February 27, 2006 the Calgary City Council approved a motion to suspend the collection of the Equity Funding Rider effective March 1, 2006. This Rider was initially made effective January 1, 2006 at a rate of $0.00191 per kWh.

We'll invest in facilities required to provide service to a new or expanded site as outlined in our Residential Investment Policy and our Commercial Service Investment Policy. This policy sets out our level of financial contribution and what financial contribution is required by the site owner/operator.
