In life, a student. In death, a teacher.
Tim, a model student, son, brother, and friend was the victim of a fatal workplace accident that could have been avoided had he and others around him known to ask questions before getting into a high-risk situation.
Told by Tim’s family and friends as they come to terms with his loss, the message conveyed in the video is a positive one. It emphasizes the importance of asking questions when you’re a new worker and taking responsibility for your own safety and that of co-workers. The video ends on a strong note by encouraging students to just say “no” when there’s any uncertainty regarding worksite safety.
The Tim Hamilton Story has been enthusiastically received by the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Separate School Division, partly due to the tireless efforts of Julie Hamilton, Tim’s mother, who has been a passionate advocate of workplace safety since his death.
