Want to energize your Grade Five students with an electrical safety presentation that ties into the province’s science curriculum? Then you'll want to book some time with the ENMAX School Safety Program!
Our presenter will bring out the Hazard Hamlet, an electrical simulator featuring dangerous situations, and give a fun and informative session on electricity and being safe at home, school, and play. ENMAX safety gear is also displayed to help kids understand why not every insulator can be counted on for safety when it comes to power lines and broken appliances.
• The presentation is an hour long, but it can be reduced to 50 minutes or increased to an hour and fifteen minutes as your school schedules allow.
• We can adjust the content of the presentation to match where the students are in the electricity and magnetism unit (Introduction, intermediate, or advanced).
• We are available for morning or afternoon visits, Monday through Thursday. Unfortunately, we are unable to visit on Fridays or provide evening presentations.
• Schools can book two presentations for a half day visit. If you have more than four classes we can check on staying for a third presentation, or returning for a second visit at a different time.
• We can accommodate up to 70 students per presentation (ideal is 30 to 60).
• Our Hazard Hamlet display comes in two boxes, each weighing 13kg/30lbs, so if you have stairs at your school, our presenter will need assistance to get one of the cases up the stairs.
• The ENMAX hybrid SUV we use will need to park close to the entrance for unloading the presentation equipment. We may need to park in a maintenance spot or on the lawn (which will not damage the grass). Please advise your facility/caretaking staff of our visit and our need to park, which will be done safely and not interfere with school operations.
• Schools must provide a table for the Hazard Hamlet display and have a nearby electrical outlet.
Since ENMAX Power is committed to helping kids learn about the dangers of electricity, there is no cost to you or your school for this presentation. We even have a free safety magazine for your students that they can bring home and share with their families and friends!
Please note: this program is only available for schools in Calgary. As long as your school is within the city limits, be it CBE, CSSD, private or home school association, we will be happy to set up a visit with you.
