Police departments recommend outdoor lighting as a way to discourage trespassers. If your alley isn't lit and you're concerned about your family's safety, you may want to consider signing up for ENMAX Power Services' Residential Bright Nights program.
We'll install a bright, energy-efficient light on an existing wooden power pole in your alley. A sensor turns the light on at dusk and off at dawn.
The cost of this service is $16.75/month (minimum term of 12 months), which can be shared between up to six neighbours (see residential service agreement). Your portion of the costs will be applied to your monthly ENMAX utility bill (we can set up a special account for non-ENMAX customers). ENMAX will supply all electrical and maintenance costs.
Currently, this program is offered in eligible Calgary neighbourhoods.
