The guidelines and applications on this page are to be used for interconnection of generators to the ENMAX Power Distribution system.  Please refer to the Micro Generation and Distributed Generation sections below for more details.

Note: Generation export is not permitted within any of the secondary Network systems within the City of Calgary due to safety and technical reasons. Please refer to the Network Servicing Policies and Guidelines and the Network boundary maps for more information. Please contact ENMAX Power at generationinterconnection@enmax.com if your site is within a Network area.

Micro Generation
In 2008 the Government of Alberta introduced a new Micro Generation Regulation to accommodate interconnection of certain Micro Generators utilizing renewable or alternative resources. According to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Micro Generator Application Guideline the following criteria apply:

“A typical Micro Generator is a residential or small commercial generator with a capacity less than 1 MW that is connected to the electrical distribution system. The electricity produced is for personal use and it is generally expected that on an annual basis generation will be equal to consumption.”
