1.

What is a Regulated Rate Option (RRO)?

In simple terms it is what customers, who have not chosen to enter into a contract with an electricity retail supplier, receive. This Option was set up several years ago to ensure that consumers who had not selected a retail supplier would continue to receive electricity service.

2.

Does the RRO offer the best rate?

Not necessarily. These prices are based on market conditions at the time the electricity is purchased and since July 1, 2006 prices are set monthly with a portion that floats based on market conditions.

3.

Is there an alternative to the RRO?

Yes. Customers have options:

  • Remain on the Regulated Rate Option – this would be the “do nothing” option – and receive the market price established each month.
  • Choose an energy plan from a retail supplier.

4.

What should customers consider when looking for a competitive retail offer?

Competitive retailers package their services differently – they offer different prices, contract terms, incentive programs and penalties for leaving a contract. When choosing a retail supplier ask about these differences.

Customers should review their choices and decide which option is best for them.

Wire Service Provider (WSP)
