Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels are panels that convert the sun’s energy into electricity. There are different types of PV panels, differentiated largely by the manufacturing process, materials used, and end function. For example, some PV panels are designed to specifically replace concrete roof tiles.
ENMAX Energy has set up test sites for solar PV and is excited about the opportunity to offer this technology to our customers as early as mid-2009.
The following figure shows a typical solar PV installation. The solar PV panels convert energy from the sun into electricity, normally in DC form. The solar inverter converts DC (direct current) output into AC (alternating current) form for regular residential and commercial use. |
