Business magazine Corporate Knights has once again named ENMAX Corporation as one of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada. This is the third year in a row ENMAX has been named to the list, finishing in eighth place for 2011. Corporate Knights issues the report annually on the state of responsible business in Canada.

“Since ENMAX was named to the list three years ago, we have remained among the top 15 companies in Canada,” said Liz Soria, vice-president, ENMAX Corporate Responsibility. “Their metrics of conducting business responsibly on a number of different fronts is something we take very seriously.”

The ranking methodology used by Corporate Knights includes many factors such as environmental and social responsibility, corporate governance, transparency, and relative core business impact.

According to Corporate Knights, “…Thirty years ago, states were more powerful than corporations, but no longer…What companies do with social, ecological, natural and financial capital to thrive in the present and shape the future matters.”

In its tenth year, this ranking system has helped to set a standard for what it means to be a good corporate citizen in Canada. Corporate Knights defines its member list as companies that fulfill their part of the social contract, while providing innovative solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges of our time.
