Safety is Power!
For Immediate Release
Calgary
09 Mar 2011

ENMAX Power Corporation is pleased to be a sponsor of Calgary’s eighth annual Safety Expo on March 9 and 10 at the City Hall atrium. Kids in grades four to seven from the public and Catholic system as well as private and home-schooled students will participate. The Expo runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

The expo inspires kids on safety at home, school and play through interactive exhibits, workshops and demonstrations. With over 35 exhibits, kids will learn to handle emergency situations, internet safety, fire prevention, and consequences of crime or poor lifestyle choices.

Building on the School Safety program to complement Alberta’s science curriculum, ENMAX Power will feature an interactive booth at the Expo. “Hazard Hamlet” is an interactive miniature own that teaches kids about dangerous electrical situations. Kids will also have the chance to inspect electrical equipment and try on specialized linemen safety gear.

More than 3,200 local students are expected to attend the expo, courtesy of co-sponsors ENMAX Power Corporation and The City of Calgary. ENMAX Power will also sponsor free bus transportation for participating schools through Southland Transportation.

The planning and hosting of Safety Expo is a collaborative effort on behalf of the following organizations: ENMAX Power Corporation, Safer Calgary, The City of Calgary, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, EMS, Girl Guides of Canada and Campus Calgary: City Hall School, all of which consider safety a core value.
