ENMAX sets the record straight on political donations
For Immediate Release
Calgary
24 Jan 2011

CBC Radio One (Calgary) reported this morning that ENMAX Corporation contributed to the provincial Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta in 2009. This information is incorrect. No donations were made in 2009 or at any time after 2006. The donation referred to in the CBC story was actually made in 2004.

In 2008, ENMAX amended its political donations policy prohibiting donations to include all of a political nature, including municipal, provincial and federal parties.

Knowing that it had not made contributions in 2009, Ian Todd - VP of Government and Media Relations for ENMAX Corporation, researched the Elections Alberta website and found that a reporting error had been made.

Mr. C. J. Rhamey, Director of Elections Finances at Elections Alberta, confirmed the error and that ENMAX did not make any political contributions in 2009 in an email to Mr. Todd. Mr. Rhamey also confirmed that Elections Alberta is currently fixing the mistake on its site and has issued a note apologizing for the mistaken reporting.
